The Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification Program qualifies you for a key role in process improvement within your organization. You act as a coach, sparring partner, and expert for complex DMAIC and DMADV initiatives. In this module, you lay the methodological and personal foundation for your role as Master Black Belt and strategic project coach.

Coach the Coach / Train the Trainer

  • You sharpen your role as Master Black Belt in the tension between coaching, training, and subject matter expertise
  • You systematically develop your coaching, facilitation, and training skills
  • You learn to handle difficult coaching and training situations with confidence

Multi-Project Management & Stakeholder Management

  • You manage multiple complex DMAIC or DMADV projects in parallel
  • You systematically analyze stakeholders and derive effective communication and intervention strategies
  • You create clarity, structure, and accountability across project and organizational boundaries

In this module, you deepen your analytical competence for demanding project situations and develop confidence in handling complex data analyses.

Advanced Statistics & Data Analysis

  • You deepen statistical methods for your role as expert in coaching
  • You analyze complex relationships using correlation, regression, and design of experiments

Expert-Level Process Management

  • You connect statistical analysis with end-to-end process thinking
  • You derive well-founded decisions for strategic improvement initiatives

In this module, you further develop your ability to holistically analyze and design complex value streams and effectively support transformations.

End-to-End Process Analysis & Lean Methods

  • You analyze and design end-to-end processes along value, flow, and customer benefit
  • You deepen Lean tools such as pull systems, theory of constraints, and flow concepts

Lean Transformation

  • You derive ideal states from strategic business objectives
  • You anchor process improvement as a strategic component of the organization

In this module, you expand your competence from process improvement to the systematic design of new products and processes.

Design for Six Sigma (DMADV)

  • You learn to systematically develop new products and processes
  • You connect DMAIC and DMADV into a holistic approach

Innovation and Product Development

  • You develop and evaluate product and process concepts
  • You use Lean and Six Sigma tools specifically for innovation work

In this module, you systematically transfer the Master Black Belt content into practice.

  • You work through a comprehensive case study and apply the MBB content
  • You reflect on your methodological approach, coaching logic, and decision-making

On this day, you apply your knowledge in practice with guidance.

  • You independently conduct a training, coaching session, or workshop
  • You are accompanied by a UMS Master Black Belt
  • You receive structured feedback on approach, impact, and method application

Learning Environment

You learn in a positively demanding and practice-oriented learning environment specifically designed for your role as Master Black Belt, coach, and strategic sparring partner. The program combines intensive training modules with self-study, practical application, and reflection.
The training modules take place as in-person or live online formats and enable close exchange, expert-level discussions, and work on real project and coaching situations. Simulations, role plays, case studies, and practical exercises ensure that you not only deepen methods but learn how to effectively convey, coach, and apply them in complex contexts.

A central component of the learning environment is the MBB case study as well as a guided coaching day, during which you independently conduct a training, coaching session, or workshop and receive structured feedback from a UMS Master Black Belt. This ensures the sustainable transfer of content into real project, coaching, and training situations.

Coaches

Your trainers are experienced UMS Master Black Belts with many years of practice in complex transformation and optimization initiatives. They combine methodological depth with coaching, training, and industry experience.

Prerequisites

  • Completed Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Leading at least 3 projects as a Black Belt
  • Coaching experience in at least 17 projects
  • Willingness for intensive preparation and follow-up

Certification

Upon successful completion of the training, completion of the MBB case study, approval of 20 project documentations, and a live coaching audit, you will receive the UMS Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certificate.
