We live up to our social responsibility

Sustainability is a top priority for us at UMS. For this reason, we have taken a variety of steps to make our training sessions at the Academy more environmentally friendly. Here you can learn about the specific changes we have implemented:

  1. 1

    Reducing paper consumption

We regularly monitor our paper usage during training sessions and have been able to reduce CO2 emissions by about 54 kg per training session over the past 4 years. In addition, we use only recycled paper.

  2. 2

    Reusable moderator markers

We use only refillable presentation markers to minimize waste.

  3. 3

    Sustainable materials

When sourcing our training materials, we are constantly looking for more sustainable alternatives, such as eco-friendly Tipp-Ex and eco-friendly ballpoint pens.

  4. 4

    EcoVadis certification

Our commitment to sustainable training is underscored by our EcoVadis “Platinum” rating. EcoVadis evaluates companies in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. We are proud to be among the top 1% of companies evaluated worldwide. This award reflects our ongoing commitment to setting the highest standards in sustainable training practices and to further strengthening our dedication to responsible training.

EcoVadis

We are pleased to have been a proud partner of EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies, since 2020. EcoVadis has a network of more than 150,000 rated companies, including BAYER, Deutsche Bahn, BASF, and Brenntag. The EcoVadis rating covers a broad range of non-financial management systems, including the impact of the following areas: the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. A total of 21 CSR criteria within these areas are factored into the assessment. These criteria are based on international CSR standards, including the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the ISO 26000 standard, the CERES Principles, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Since 2020, we have had our sustainability performance regularly assessed by EcoVadis to continuously promote transparency and improve our internal sustainability practices. Since December 2025, we have proudly held the Platinum Medal, placing us among the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Social, societal, and environmental responsibility is firmly embedded in our corporate culture and our key focus areas. It is a crucial factor in our performance and the success of our company.

We are committed to supporting the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. These principles cover human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, and provide us with a practical framework for our business approach. By integrating these principles into our daily work, we actively contribute to making a positive impact on society and the environment.

In addition, we use the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability.

Since 2025, the Expleo Group, of which UMS Consulting is a part, has also been an official signatory to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our short- and long-term climate targets have been validated by the SBTi and are aligned with the Paris Agreement (1.5 °C pathway). Expleo and UMS aim to achieve net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2040.

Furthermore, we are proud to be a partner of EcoVadis, a global leader in sustainability performance assessment. This partnership enables us to fulfill our corporate responsibility even more effectively and to have a positive impact on society and the environment.

As an EcoVadis partner, we undergo a comprehensive assessment of our sustainability practices based on international standards and guidelines. This assessment covers various aspects of sustainability, including environmental protection, working conditions, ethics, human rights, and procurement practices.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is based on four main pillars:

  • Ethical conduct
  • Our values
  • Empowering our employees
  • Promoting responsible business partners

For us, sustainable business practices do not end at the company’s boundaries. We also expect our business partners to share our values and act in accordance with the same high ethical, social, and environmental standards.

Our Human Rights Policy and our Supplier Code of Conduct provide a binding framework for this. Both guidelines set out clear expectations regarding respect for internationally recognized human rights, fair working conditions, environmental protection, and ethical conduct throughout the entire value chain.

If, despite our best efforts, any violations of these principles occur, they can be reported at any time through our confidential whistleblower system: whistleblower@ums-gmbh.com

We guarantee absolute confidentiality and protection against retaliation.
